Jewelry storage

So here goes the story. On my 21st birthday I got this little fella here. I'm 23, almost 24 now that I think about it (yikes), and all that's left of him is half a packet of fish food and an empty bowl.


This bowl has stood on my shelf as a sad reminder of my poor fishy (may he rest in eternal peace of the sewers) for a long time, but I've decided to turn it into a happier attribute of my room. Since I've always struggled to find a decent place for my modest jewelry collection, which mostly consists of earrings, one day it just struck me that I can put all my girly crap accessories on/in that beautiful glass bowl. I can't really call it a DIY project, since all I did is just basically come up with the idea, but whatever, maybe one day I'll decorate it and it will become a little closer to being handmade. What I've noticed though is that for necklaces and other stuff that is prone to getting in knots, it's not the best solution. So I just hang them on my cork board. But as for everything else: bracelets, rings, watches, hairbands, etc. it works great. I just hope this jewelry storage idea will be a tiny discovery for someone as it was for me!





Preparing for Christmas

We have a long lasting tradition of DIY decorations in our family, so this year was no exception. My sister and I came up with an idea to decorate the Christmas tree with gingerbread cookies, so two days ago we occupied the kitchen and filled the whole house with the aroma of cinnamon and cloves. We used the recipe found in Beatos Virtuvė and I'm pretty happy with the outcome, except that we lowered the temperature a little bit after the first batch, cause our stubborn oven decided to almost burn it. Finally we decorated the cookies with chocolate, sprinkles and vanilla sugar and hung them on the tree. Even though in my mind the Christmas tree was supposed to be really earthy and minimal, we added some red glass balls and red ribbon to make it look fuller, because the branches are pretty thin. So drum roll please, here's the final result (the excessive use of filters masks the lack of quality and magically makes me look more creative):





Oh, and my mom decorated the lamp in the living room with these self-made snowflakes and balls. It looks especially nice when the light is on, cause the silver elements on the balls are reflective:



There are several other DIY Christmas decoration projects that I'm working on right now and maybe I'm gonna find time to share them later.



Christmas Quiz: Family edition (in Lithuanian)

So this year I've decided to prepare something special for my family - a quiz! At least one part of my relatives' bodies is gonna get a workout, cause otherwise our holidays usually are pretty lazy and chill. I'm actually sad that I won't be taking an active part in this game, however, I had a lot of fun preparing it, picking out the fonts, the backgrounds and looking for interesting questions. I'm also thinking of making nice invitations to the quiz and buying some cute little presents for everyone, that I'm most likely gonna pimp out to give them a little more personal touch. I already have some ideas, and tomorrow I'm gonna browse some shops and buy them. I've uploaded the quiz here, the answers are in a separate file here, you can freely download both of them and use it if you want. You're just gonna need to download some tracks or use the Youtube links I included in the answer sheet. I've included some questions related to Christmas but other than that they are pretty random: geography, movies, music, history etc. I'm reeaaally excited for this, it should be fun!
